Holiday 04:07
I left a trail so I could find my way I'll take a trip and have a holiday No god above me but the Sun and Moon To hold me back from what I wanna do I'll take a trip and have a holiday And in the dead of night Got me swaying by your candle light Just burning away Yes, until the wind comes in and takes me back to you It's getting trickier to just maintain The way the world is going up in flames Stood on the landing taking in all that rain To soothe a fire in my aching brain Can't try too hard to make a good thing last Can't dwell at all upon your precious past Just take a trip and have a holiday And in the dead of night Got me swaying by your candle light Just burning away, yeah now hold me back And in the dead of night Got me swaying by your candle light Just burning away Until the wind comes in and takes me back to you I left a trail so I could find my way I'll take a trip and have a holiday No god above me but the Sun and Moon To hold me back from what I wanna do I'll take a trip and have a holiday

I've got a feeling that you must be right I've got this noose on and my neck feels tight If I'm in trouble, can I call you tonight So we could be alone, just you and me Yeah, I mean, we could be swinging from the apple tree My friends are lovely, yeah they suit me just fine The kind of people (That) takes a lifetime to find But I'm so lonesome, I need someone to hold I need somebody who can comfort me Yeah, I mean, that I could swing with from the apple tree (Hear me swing it to ya) I'm moving in to your neighbourhood Where everybody's always up to no good If we can make it, I think we should try 'Cause if we never do, I'll never get to ease my mind Not every story has a happy end Well, the more you break a heart, the harder it is to mend But I'm so hopeful, I'll keep trying my luck Before I chuck it in to memories Yeah I mean, before they chop down that old apple tree You hear me singing, "If we don't do it Yeah we'll never get to do it anytime, or anyhow"

Hell or high water, I will come through You made me love, honey: what can I do The arrow struck me, right through the heart You're all I want, baby, when we're apart You're always there when I need a good friend On your carousel in the summertime That's where you'll be 'till I go blind You're looking at me like I fell from a tree Walked across the ocean, honey, just to lay at your feet I'll the punches for you just as long as I can Keep all your promises, honey, and stick to the plan You're always leaving a trail I can find On your carousel in the summertime That's where you'll be 'till I go blind Too many heartaches will just curse your soul I ain't here to save you, no I ain't that bold You've got your reasons from what I can see Changes with the season, honey, but it don't bother me You're getting dizzy but you keep spinning 'roung On your carousel in the summertime That's where you'll be 'till I go blind

I'm gonna raise a fuss, I'm gonna raise a holler About a-workin' all summer just to try to earn a dollar Every time I call my baby, try to get a date My boss says, "no dice son, you gotta work late" Sometimes I wonder what I'm a-gonna do But there ain't no cure for the summertime blues Well, my mom and pop told me, "son, you gotta make some money" If you want to use the car to go ridin' next Sunday Well, I didn't go to work, told the boss I was sick "Well, you can't use the car 'cause you didn't work a lick" Sometimes I wonder what I'm a gonna do But there ain't no cure for the summertime blues I'm gonna take two weeks, gonna have a fine vacation I'm gonna take my problem to the United Nations Well, I called my congressman and he said "whoa!" "I'd like to help you son but you're too young to vote" Sometimes I wonder what I'm a gonna do But there ain't no cure for the summertime blues

about

"Holiday" is a 4-song collection of recordings that were made in one day, early September 2019 at William Poulin's Studio Chapleau in Montreal, QC.

It's the first official recording of the band as it has stood since early 2019. "Holiday" and "Carousel in the Summertime" were written in their basic forms in late 2018 with band arrangements slowly evolving throughout live performances. "Apple Tree Swing" was written on a hot summer night four years ago and has been a staple for live shows since then. "Summertime Blues" was written by Eddie Cochran in 1958 and has been interpreted here in its mostly original format.

The Golden Gate:

Kevin Moquin - Electric guitar
Erik Fines - Bass
Walid Moon - Drums, count-in on Track 4
Frisco Lee - Vocals, acoustic guitar, percussion

Thanks to Freddy Poulin for the additional percussion on Track 2!
